Being on your spiritual journey isn’t about following somebody’s beliefs or practices. It has nothing to do with something that is outside of you or doing something that doesn’t feel right but everything to do with what your soul’s call is. From the beginning, it has been ingrained in our DNA to listen to that call because that’s who we are.
We are spiritual beings having this physical experience in this physical body. We might have forgotten this but our heart, our soul still knows this.
You might feel the longing for something that you can’t define, something you desire but can’t name and thus you go from one place to another to look for answers, to understand this deep desire to belong somewhere or desire to be somewhere or do something. The moment this longing begins, congratulations your spiritual journey has begun.
Humans need some physical proof to believe that they are doing something different to break that old version of themselves. So, they add some new habits to their routine to feel different. Here are some of the spiritual practices that spiritual people follow in their spiritual journey.
Follow their intuition
Divine guidance is always there, we receive it through our intuition. There will be times when your beliefs are going to be challenged. But because of your intuition, you will feel the truth in your heart, your mind can be totally against some things or ideas of some people. In such cases, I suggest you give yourself time to process things and go slow. Let yourself be open to new ideas because spiritual people believe in following their Heart’s call more than their mind’s perception.
Love over fear
If somebody is preaching to you fear then step back, spirituality is not about fearing God. It is about reminding us that God is within us. In other words, I am God and God is me. Follow where love takes you and that’s where you will find your answers. Just imagine how incredible this world will become once we realize our true nature or when we accept our place in divine union.
Meditation
Meditation is going to be the most important and influential step in your spiritual journey. Develop a simple but profound meditation practice, you can begin with guided meditation and then start to do it on your own. Start meditating for 10 to 15 minutes then extend it as per your requirement. Trust me, it will change your whole life.
Books
There are tons of books out there that promise to teach you spirituality, it can be a little overwhelming in the beginning. So, I suggest that you start with something that you resonate with. Also, there will be times when you come across some books that you don’t like or understand but as you grow in your spiritual journey, you will feel compelled to pick them up again and read. Why? Because your vibrational frequency has been raised or your consciousness has been expanded to understand and read the text now.
Journal
Practice the habit of Journaling. Start with writing your thoughts and emotions down, not stories. If you’re still confused about what to write then ask yourself- How do I feel right now? What do I want from life or what does life want from me? What is the purpose of life? Or why am I here?
Such questions are going to expand your consciousness and you will be amazed to see the answers once you start writing. You can try my minimal day and night Journal as a good start. Link is here.
Connect with Nature
Ground yourself to Mother Earth and connect with nature around you. Just observe and be there in nature. You might feel sparks of something within you before your thinking mind takes over the ride again. What you’re observing in nature is the presence of the divine within you and in everything around you. Nature is simply reminding us of that.
Remember, every individual receives their spiritual calling differently, they might follow different practices or different gurus but the purpose remains the same. Do not try to restrict yourself to one way or another. Be experimental and most importantly do what feels right. Do not follow the crowd ( you can if you want, there is nothing wrong with it) follow where your heart leads you. Your heart is your atlas for this lifetime, it is going to lead you home. So, stay in your heart.
